Merry Xmas!

I’m in Melbourne now, and after todays recording of Spicks and Specks I’m off to join the family in Bali, so will be offline for a bit..Enjoy the holidays all, which remember is essentially a hijacking of the winter solstice by the Romans to appease the christians and head off a provincial revolt in Palestine..All religion is poisonous superstitious dogma but I thoroughly approve of a season of goodwill to all men..
Love to you all
xxGuy

    Nice,

Keen to hear about how Spicks and Specks went, assume will not be screened till next year some time.

Unwind and relax, again thanks for everything, веселое рождество.

    Karen.

All the best Guy, and enjoy some quality family time. I’m sure you would’ve enjoyed the ” Spicks and Specks ” session with Myf, Adam and Alan. They’re good value, but sometimes a little forgetful about the 80’s. Would rather remember ” Jessie’s Girl ” by Rick Springfield than ” Icing on the Cake ” by Stephen Duffy ? People tend to forget the decade had some stonker tracks that hold up as well as anything from the 60’s and 70’s ! But hey…enough of my yackin’.…let’s ROCK !

    Cheerio and all the best.

Happy Xmas to you & your family!
I was great to meet you at, of all places…Alton Towers in October,
(the chocolate factory certainly was’nt worth the wait, the children were not too impressed).
Anyway, the band I am in have just done a Comfortably Numb cover without the synths, it’s still sounding a little empty…any suggestions.
    Thoroughly enjoyed the Gilmour DVD
    All the best for 2008,

    Guy,

They finally released your book here in the US, and even way out here in Idaho. Loved it, and laughed my guts out. Thanks for sharing. Please bring your show to the US.

PS, I was at the December 87 show in Seattle before your glorious bus trip to Vancouver. Nicely done on both counts.

    Toodles.

It’s available on Amazon.com, Guy, for $26.52. Pretty much the going conversion rate of 2 dollars per pound sterling. Although, it says it’s ‘temporarily out of stock’, which probably means they only ordered a small handful and some other lucky souls got them for Christmas.

Happy New Year. Hope everyone is having fun.

The website on my name isn’t my band, but it is one that i would recommend to everyone. Really, everyone who goes to their gigis enjoys them. Even if you’re not too keen on the music the chat between songs is incredibly funny. Worth looking on youtube.

Anyway, hope everyone has a good year.

  21. karen - January 3, 2008 1:23 AM

    Hello Guy,

Happy Birthday to a fellow Hu.

    Karen.

  22. Jonesey - January 3, 2008 4:51 AM

    Guy,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on your question about how I got the book. With the holidays and all, I’ve been out and about with family and friends.

As I’ve been a Floyd fan for so long, I’d been following the Gilmour and Guy Pratt websites for long before you guys took to touring the On an Island album. Somewhere early on I noted that you were working on the book and have been waiting patiently to get it. I’d been watching Amazon.com for months but only the UK site allowed pre-orders until sometime in late November or early December when the US site made it available for immediate purchase. I ordered it straight away from them and tore through it, laughing so hard many times that I startled the evil Mrs. Jones.

In spite of being nearly the same age as you and having somewhat similar interests in music, not being from the UK caused me to miss a few references which I circled in pencil only to Google later to clue in on. That exercise in itself was loads of fun and highly educational.

I haven’t been in the book shops around town for awhile, but I’ll look around to see if its in there and drop a note on this or the next blog, as well as talk it up here.

    Have a Happy Birthday Guy!

    Toodles.

    Have a great day.

Happy birthday on the day, Guy! 😀

  32. Gabrielle Childers - January 4, 2008 12:25 AM

    Hey you!

Couldn’t agree with you more regarding your comments on the holiday season — more about feeding your hard-earned money into the mouths of the ever-ravenous corporate ‘have mores’ than anything else. Having said that, my 10-month-old (!) grandson loved the twinkling lights and I did love his photo with Santa ever-so-much! Being young (Rowan, not me), he was unaware that there should be presents under my handy-dandy fiber-optic twinkling tree and is blissfully unaware that his new car-seat (ultra-safe and goes up to 59 pounds) served as a token holiday present from grandma and grandpa!

And, last but not least, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU Mr. Pratt!! I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family and are now enjoying being, let’s see … 46?!?! I suppose now I should stop feeling maternal towards you and welcome you to the over-the-hill gang;^)) All those years watching the Delicate Sound of Thunder vhs had you frozen in time … that baby face and all. ‘Course now that I know the back-story to the performance (sleepy Guy, heh-heh) I’m quite impressed with your ability to have pulled it off flawlessly and looking fresh and frisky in your jumpsuit!

    Peace and Love to you/yours!
    Gabrielle

  33. Phoenix - January 4, 2008 12:26 AM

What, you want the traditional lyrics or rude ones? 🙂 🙂 🙂

  34. Ricardo Padua - January 4, 2008 12:29 AM

    Surprise us! 😉

  35. Phoenix - January 4, 2008 2:41 AM

The last time someone said that, I rewrote the lyrics to ‘On the Turning Away’ to refer to World of Warcraft…

I’ll settle for a raucous rendition of the traditional lyrics tonight and spare you my songwriting skillz. 😉
