   But, while I unfor­tu­nately may not get to see the show, I have finally ordered the very book it is based upon. It should get here within a cou­ple of weeks, but I can­not wait! Especially since I could use some laughs to help get over this rather per­sis­tent flu bug… *sighs again*

   Anyways, one of these days, I’ll get to visit London and the UK, one of these days…

   it’s the last one that he’s doing in Britain i think he said. Pity it could­n’t have been a year later (or me a year older) (to the day exactly wierdly enough but nev­er­mind) so that i could have seen it but nev­er­mind.

   Having said all that i think that the best place for Guy to do a show would be at Cropredy music fes­ti­val. It’s not the biggest or most well known fes­ti­val but it is the best in my opin­ion, and from some of the peo­ple that have been seen there many musi­cians seem to agree (Robert Plant even played one year and is in the crowd most years!) I know that Guy would go down really well (and it would mean i’d get to see the show!)

   Last London show?!

   I hope this does­n’t mean the last show of the ENTIRE tour — Marie and I still need to catch your show together. I’ve seen it in London before but she has­n’t — even though it was one of our main goals dur­ing our sum­mer visit to the UK in the sum­mer of ’07… you may recall they merged your two Chelsea Festival shows into one larger one… since we were trav­el­ing we had­n’t received proper notice!

   In any case, con­grat­u­la­tions on the paper­back release, that really, really cool poster adver­tis­ing that last London show (you should have a small con­test to give a few of those, signed, away or some­thin’), and on your Planet Rock gig. It’s great to lis­ten online from all the way in New Hampshire.

   We hope you get the book out here in the US released. I know we keep say­ing this but we really do look for­ward to you tour­ing here in Good Ol’ US AND A.

   You’re always kind to your fans Guy — we appre­ci­ate that.

    Last show in London? Will you miss it?
    I just wanted to wish you well. I have been watch­ing you grow up it seems like stat­ing with the “Pulse” DVD with the Pink Floyd of course. I am hop­ing you will release a DVD of your show for us folks in the US. Any ideas on this?
    Also, any idea of when the Blog on David’s web site will be up and run­ning. I have always enjoyed the parts you have had on the site. If you talk to Fed and the rest tell them we are all miss­ing them. Thanks Guy. I have ordered your book and can’t wait to get it.

    Hey Guy, hope tonights show goes well.

    I’ll be sit­ting in bed lis­ten­ing to it. i wont be able to email in but ill be lis­ten­ing. I really enjoyed last weeks show.
    Does phil tay­lor know that you would­n’t leave him with a child?
    Have you any news about some­one buy­ing Planet Rock before it closes? If it does do you think you’ll get a show any­where else?

    Oh…there. 😉 This only makes me can­not wait that much more to hear tonight’s show…hopefully will do that either later tonight or some­time tomor­row.

    BTW, I finally got the My Bass and Other Animals book a cou­ple of days ago, and started read­ing it last night. To say I am enjoy­ing it is putting it quite mildly…this is truly some ‘can’t put down’ and ‘laugh your socks off’ stuff. As a mat­ter of fact, only being barely halfway through, I already can­not wait to read more!

    a great show last night Guy. Your reac­tion to Alex’s ques­tion about Roger Waters tour was par­tic­u­larly funny. Was it you play­ing the intro to money dur­ing the first song you played or was it on the record? I also liked the story about how you got sacked by Jimmy Nail, i take it there aren’t any plans for a reunion?

    I too enjoyed last night’s show…in addi­tion to the reac­tion to the Roger Waters ques­tion (that was price­less :D), I also really dug the new “Bank of Pratt” fea­ture. Hopefully, that will get more response than the “My Hometown” deal was get­ting…

    *sighs* It’s going to be a sad, SAD day when and if Planet Rock fades away into the cool, dark London night. 🙁 As Thomas some­what asked ear­lier, any news at all about the fate of the Planet?

    I actu­ally missed the show this past Friday. Yes, yes, col­lec­tive gasp and all. But I have a very good excuse: I was indeed not at work or at home as usual on a Friday night, but hang­ing out with a ton of mates at a sci-fi/­com­edy music con­ven­tion in Minneapolis, MN.

    And look­ing quite awe­some in a blue and sil­ver Renaissance Faire-style dress and boots that I made myself, with accom­pa­ny­ing bodice and a sadly peace-bonded rapier and dag­ger.

    Yes, there are pho­tos. No, you can’t see them. *grin*

    I am not hold­ing my breath on this, but I fig­ured I’d ask any­way: Does any­one here hap­pen to have any sort of record­ing of Guy’s Planet Rock show from last night (March 7^th/​8th)? Planet Rock does not have an archived copy of the show (and really, any show past March 4^th), and need­less to say, as some­one who was look­ing for­ward to hear­ing the show, I am quite dis­mayed. Not to men­tion espe­cially being bummed out at the lack of archived shows being a very pos­si­ble sign that Planet Rock will indeed be ceas­ing and desist­ing at the end of the month. *sighs*

    Anyway, if any­one has a sharable copy of this week’s episode of the show, please e‑mail me (caroline@​vivadieci.​net). Thanks in advance…and I’ll cer­tainly take this as a sign that I bet­ter tune in live some­how, some­way these next two or three Fridays!

    Normally, I’d point to the ‘Listen Again’ fea­ture, but this recent episode isn’t listed. Very sad, since I also wanted to have a copy of it… all the World of Warcraft ref­er­ences amused me immensely.

    Yeah i liked the world of war­craft ref­er­ences too. I don’t think Guy quite under­stood your point that there are worse addic­tions to have. I could­n’t hear all of the show last night which is a shame because it’s a great show and i was hop­ing my best job email might be read out.

    Perhaps guy could put a record­ing of the show on this web­site?

    I checked the Planet Rock sched­ule to see if there are any repeats of Guy’s show…and it looks like the only ones PR both­ers to play again, not count­ing artist/​band of the month spe­cials, are Listomania, Alice Cooper’s break­fast show (at least in the form of high­lights), and Gary Moore’s Blues Power. No signs of Guy’s show repeats…unless they are buried in the 12/1:00 AM to 6/7:00 AM slots. But, I highly doubt they are.

    It would be great if a copy of this week’s episode could be fea­tured on Guy’s site…it would cer­tainly work well as adver­tis­ing for the show AND Planet Rock, even if I am a lit­tle thread­bare with the Planet at the moment for this sud­denly not archiv­ing their shows. That not being helped by their still hav­ing a but­ton on the site stat­ing “Missed your favorite show? Listen again!”…grrr, arrrgh.

    Thomas Robinson, my com­ment was mostly made in light of Guy’s pre­vi­ous com­ments on-air about how choco­late has become his new addic­tion since giv­ing up smok­ing.

    Caroline, I lis­tened to last week’s show ear­lier this week with the Listen Again fea­ture… nor­mally that thing’s full of all kinds of stuff. Why it isn’t now, I dunno. As for archiv­ing else­where, I believe the UK has sim­i­lar ‘pod­cast­ing’ or record­ing rules that US sta­tions have. For exam­ple, I can stream var­i­ous music on my radio show for a cer­tain small amount of roy­al­ties that need to be paid. It’s a live stream, no repeats, no archiv­ing. But as soon as we offer either repeats or archiv­ing, it falls under the whole pod­cast­ing laws and such and engen­ders a much larger amount of roy­al­ties that need to be paid.

    And I have a not so polite opin­ion about music exec­u­tives get­ting money I’d rather actu­ally see going to the artists directly, but I’ll be good and not share. 😉

    GREAT news!! Something told me to check Planet Rock’s web­site and player this morning…and lo and behold: Guy’s show from last week is up!! So my request for a copy of the show has not only been ful­filled, but can also be scratched.

    I have to admit that I was hop­ing that the deal with Planet Rock’s lack of archived shows over the last week was just a tech­ni­cal dif­fi­culty of some kind…but with the poten­tial clos­ing down of the sta­tion, who knew?l

    Anyway, I’m just glad that I can take in one more episode of what has been and is a fan­tas­tic show before it pos­si­bly ends soon (*sighs*).

    thanks for point­ing that out, i would­n’t have seen it out­her­wise. i’m lis­ten­ing to it now, the main prob­lem is that i always hear the first half but i never can stay awake through the sec­ond half (not that i find it bor­ing, it’s just that i’m tired and can’t help falling asleep) so i have to wait an hour before i can hear the ‘new’ bits. Sorry Guy i do try to stay awake but after a week of get­ting up early for school by Friday i can’t last until 1 in the morn­ing. i don’t have world of war­craft — maybe thats my prob­lem. From now on i’ll just play my foot­ball game instead.

    How’s every­thing else going? Hope the last show went well. I’ve just noticed that it’s been over a month since we heard from you, if it was­n’t for your show i might get wor­ried!

    Guy, is there any news about planet rock clos­ing down? I’m hop­ing noth­ing has been said because a deal is very near com­ple­tion but some­how i think it’s actu­ally because no-one had brought it. Brain May said he would like to buy it but he has­n’t said any more about it.

    How about musi­cians form­ing a con­sor­tium to buy it, a bit like the foot­ball fans did with the foot­ball club? Please Guy, any news?

    If not for the fact there’s no Mac client for it (boo!), it’s more likely we could get him on Lord of the Rings Online… you can actu­ally play music in it, and one of the instru­ments is a the­o­rbo, a kind of bass lute. 🙂
