   Superb night at PMT Manchester. The show was well paced and witty with lots of great sto­ries and some top bass play­ing, but I would have wel­comed a bit of Q & A at the end — although with the idiot birth­day guy on the front row I guess you had your fill of audi­ence inter­ac­tion for one night. As some­one who isn’t a Pink Floyd fan I would have liked to hear a bit more of your work with Bryan Ferry and Jimmy Nail, but that’s not a com­plaint.

   Guy, you’re the same age as me, play the same instru­ment and we have sim­i­lar tastes from our youth. I got a copy of your ‘My bass…’ book on the night and spent all the next day read­ing it from cover to cover. Amazed at some of the artists you have worked with. The book was a fan­tas­tic read and I salute and respect you. Alas, as Robert Palmer one said “some guys have all the luck!” 🙂

   Yes slightly off topic but what the hell just picked up seven tick­ets today for your Adelaide show.
   My Wife and I are really look­ing for­ward to see­ing your show again this time we’ve made a night of with a few friends we can hardly wait.
   Hope to get a chance to say hello again face to face,
   Oh yea my offer of a Barossa Valley Wine tour is still open if you have time “food and drinks are on us” any­time.

   hi guy . nice to see you are’nt for­get­ing dublin and are play­ing here in sep­tem­ber . last time you did so it was the carls­berg com­edy fes­ti­val this time it is the bum­mers inter­na­tional com­edy fes­it­val . am i sens­ing a small link ? 🙂

   for the sec­ond time i came across you gig by fluke but this time there was bet­ter adver­tis­ing for the com­edy fes­ti­val you are play­ing , it gave me more then the 24 hours notice i had last time to buy a ticket ! i was in a pub called the red cow inn hav­ing some lunch ( i drive my car for a liv­ing you see doing deliv­er­ies for my dad buis­ness so i can end up eat­ing in pubs, petrol sta­tions or god knows where else!) i found an evening her­ald new­pa­per and although there is never much to read in it i scanned through it . i came some adds for upcom­ing gigs . there was an add for the com­edy fes­ti­val . made up of smaller adds with pic­tures of each act and infor­ma­tion on where to see them . there you were adver­tis­ing my bass . as soon as i got home i got a ticket . i am look­ing for­ward to see­ing your show again !

   Hey Guy,

   Thanks for your Brisbane show — it was awe­some. Pity about the rude guests in the audi­ence but you han­dled it like a pro.

   I am look­ing for­ward to see­ing you next tour.

   I par­tic­u­larly enjoyed your tails about try­ing to smash your gui­tar. I hope you remem­ber the advice I gave you on the night — the gui­tar hero base is a bolt on neck so will give the right effect when you smash it.

   And as for your com­ment that you can’t seem to get the hang of the whole gui­tar hero thing ‑my advice is to keep at it — I am sure you’ll pick it up even­tu­ally — remem­ber it is all in the prac­tice!!!!

    As far as I know I’m not related to Boris Karloff, but I was aware of his name..

    Precisions have a wider neck and only on pickup so they only really have one sound, which is lovely but a bit woody and mel­low for my tastes..

    I was meant to be play­ing NZ this year but the fes­ti­val got can­celled, hope­fully next year..
